Application: Gasketing Material Used in Centrifugal Casting of Metals Product: Refractory Sheet Type RS-DA Application Information: In this application, Refractory Sheet Type RS-DA acts as a gasketing material in the forming of ferrous and non-ferrous metal solid cylinders. RS-DA replaces cast refractory materials which crack or chip off due to the centrifugal forces of the process and cause imperfections in the molten metal. RS-DA offers a smooth surface and reduces the need to "crop end" the metal cylinders. Benefits: The benefits of using RS-DA in this application are: the temperature strength of RS-DA is superb, it will not crack at the service temperature of 1371°C(2500°F), and therefore downtime needed to replace gasketing material is greatly reduced; RS-DA is not dense therefore the porosity gives better thermal insulating properties than dense castables; RS-DA is more flexible than cast refractory materials and does not break down at the service temperature.
