Application: Separator for Sintering Operations Product: Refractory Sheet Type RS-DR Application Information: In this application, Refractory Sheet Type RS-DR acts as a separator in the sintering operation to manufacture steel filters. The "green form" filter which is made from steel powder processed into tape preforms plus binders, is heated to 1204°C(2200°F) in a hydrogen atmosphere. To mass produce these filters, trays of green forms with separating layers of RS-DR are passed through the furnace for heating. Benefits: The benefits of using RS-DR in this application are: RS-DR withstands the operating temperature well; RS-DR has the desired strength properties; RS-DR has superior thermal shock capabilities and in various independent tests, conclusively out performs available hard ceramics; RS-DR allows repeat cycles- it is reusable in this application to approximately 15 cycles which translates to cost savings.
